As the current Chair of Hartlepool Cricket Club I’d like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of our Coaches and support staff who have helped deliver junior cricket for all of our young cricketers across the 2022 cricket season. It’s important to remember that they are volunteers who kindly give up their time to help the Junior Section collectively deliver cricket from reception to our Under 17s, plus our Women’s team too. Without them, there wouldn’t be a Junior Section.

I’d also like to thank parents and carers for their support of our cricket activities and for your general support of Hartlepool Cricket Club, especially on a Friday evening!

Hopefully, our young cricketers have had a very enjoyable season too, with new skills learned, or skills developed! From what I’ve seen, it’s evident that cricket skills have certainly been enhanced across the Summer, with lots of fun had and, in many cases, new friendships developed.

This Friday evening is the final training session on a Friday for the 2022 season. Hopefully, the weather is kind for those training, plus for the very important Under 16s match that is being played against Sedgefield : The Ian Jackson Memorial Trophy. 5pm start. Consequently, Park Drive is likely to be very busy this Friday!

Over the next few days some of our Junior sides have some important fixtures, which need to be highlighted, :-

- On Sunday our Girls Under 13s could win their respective league with a win over Seaham Harbour;
- Our Durham Junior Cricket Board League team plays a final at Park Drive on Sunday morning against Washington. This is a 9.30am start;
- Also on Sunday, the Under 15s and the Under 11s could become the champions of their respective age groups, when they compete in the “NYACC Finals Day” that’s being held at Maltby Cricket Club. The Under 15s take on Sedgefield at 9.30am, while the Under 11s play against Barnard Castle at 4.30pm; and
- On Monday evening our Under 15s Girls play a championship playoff away at Burnhopfield.

The very best of luck to all those juniors who are playing matches in final days of the 2022 cricket season!

Details of the various Junior Presentation Evenings will be shared in due course, as will details of our indoor training sessions that are being held at High Tunstall College of Science. These are booked to start in December, 2022.

Hopefully, some more parents will come forward to volunteer to undertake a cricket qualification, thereby enabling them to help deliver cricket opportunities at Park Drive.

Finally, I’d again like to thank Freers, Askew, Bunting, Solicitors, for their sponsorship of the Junior Section. Your support is very much appreciated.

David JB Thompson,
Junior Chair.
