Hartlepool Cricket Club's Over 40s side suffered a heavy defeat at Norton last night (14 July) in the NYSD Masters Group B.
Batting first, Norton accummulated 148 runs from their allotted 20 overs with Clint Wolverston and Jonathan Kean top scoring with 31 runs apiece.
Pool skipper David Thompson was top wicket taker, claiming three scalps with his variation of medium pace and off breaks.
Debutant Andrew Tweed was the most econimical of the Pool bowlers conceding just 8 runs from three overs, and took a wicket in the process.
Another highlight for Hartlepool was the performance of fellow debutant Graham Hurst - on loan from Skelton Castle - who claimed a hat-trick of stumpings.
Andy Davies and Neil Doyle also claimed a wicket each.
In reply, Hartlepool lost a couple of early wickets and were always behind the required run rate.
Dave Scott top scored with 19 not out and Hurst (18), Tweed (15) and Hawkins (10) were the other main contributors.
Hartlepool closed their innings on 77 for the loss of 5 wickets.
Next up for the Over 40s is a home fixture at Park Drive against Billingham Synthonia on Thursday 28 July, starting at 6pm.
