…Wednesday, 11th January, 2023!

On Wednesday, 11th January, 2023 the Junior Section of Hartlepool Cricket Club is holding its Registration Evening for the forthcoming 2023 cricket season. This important event is taking place in the Clubhouse. It has been brought forward to hopefully ensure that we receive our clothing order from Lorimers in time for the start of the outdoor training sessions in April, 2023.

Details of Registration Evening :

The Registration Evening has been split into the following times for our different age groups to attend, :-

- 6.00pm to 7.30pm : Primary School children, ie. Monkeys, Under 9s and Under 11s, (“the Primary School Age Group”); and

- 7.30pm to 9.00pm : Secondary School children, ie. Under 12s, Under 13s, Under 15s and Under 17s, (“the Secondary School Age Group”).

As to the forthcoming 2023 cricket season, the aim of the event is to, :-

- Confirm the required size of your Young Cricketer’s blue Gray-Nicolls playing shirt which is to be received as part of their membership fees, plus a further item of clothing. Monkeys and Under 9s are to receive a pair of shorts. The other age groups are to receive a pair of cricket trousers, (ie. slim leg training pants). These two items of clothing are the Lorimers’ brand;

- Confirm the shirt number for the back of the blue playing shirt. Those Young Cricketers who are to remain within the Primary School Age Group and the Secondary Age Group will retain their chosen shirt number from the 2022 cricket season. New Junior Members and those moving from the Primary School Age Group to the Secondary Age Group will be allocated a new shirt number; and

- To issue the new Membership Cards for 2023. On the reverse, these contain details of our Junior sponsor : Freers, Askew, Bunting, Solicitors.

If any of our older Juniors play Senior cricket and they need to wear a blue playing shirt, they’ll need to wear the Senior version of the shirt.

Information about the sizes of the Gray-Nicolls playing shirt can be found at the following link : https://www.lorimers4cricket.co.uk/size-guide

The shorts come in the following age sizes : 7-8; 9-11; and 12-13.

The cricket trousers come in the following age sizes : 7-8, (23 inch waist); 9-10, (24.5 inch waist); 11-12, (26 inch waist); 13, (27.5 inch waist); XS Adult, (30 inch waist); Small Adult; Medium Adult; Large Adult; XL Adult; and XXL Adult.

Membership and Player Profile Form :

For the 2023 cricket season we are trialling a new electronic Membership and Player Profile Form. The intended benefits of this is : to save on paper; and to assist with the administration of membership details. The new Form can be accessed here :
https://forms.gle/Aw9VsaR2ttzyharS7

Should you have any queries regarding the Form, then please contact Chris Smith, (Director of Coaching), who has kindly developed the Form : 07790308410. Please complete the Form BEFORE attending the Registration Evening.

Membership Fees for 2023 :

Membership fees are required to be paid by bank transfer, or a Standing Order. The respective fee can be paid in one lump sum. The following fees apply for the 2023 season, which covers outdoor training only, :-

- Monkeys and Under 9s : £75.00 : Standing Order to be set up for the months of February to May, 2023. Three payments of £20.00 per month and a final payment of £15.00. First payment to be made on, or before 1st February, 2023; and

- All other age groups : £85.00 : Standing Order to be set up for the months of February to May, 2023. Three payments of £20.00 per month and a final payment of £25.00. First payment to be made on, or before 1st February, 2023.

If any indoor training is held across the Winter, then these sessions will need to be paid for separately to cover the cost of hiring the hall.

Standing Orders are required to be set up for the following Account : Hartlepool Junior Cricket Club; Account Number : 24049573; and Sort Code : 55-81-04.

When setting up a Standing Order, please only set up one Standing Order, even if you have more than one child attending the training sessions. Please use the following reference when setting up the Standing Order, :-

23-[Name of Child/Children]
Example 1 : a single child : Noah Thompson : 23-NThompson
Example 2 : two children : Oliver and Benjamin Smith : 23-O-BSmith

As stated above, instead of paying over four months, fees can be paid in a single lump sum. This would be done as above.

If any parents, or carers have difficulties paying the above charges, then please contact David JB Thompson, (Junior Chair), on 07931147637 for a discrete and confidential discussion about how the Junior Section can provide support and assistance.

Purchase of Additional Clothing :

Should any parents, or carers wish to purchase any of the following, :-

- A cricket shirt for themselves, which some will hopefully want to do : £42.00;

- A long sleeved jumper for their Young Cricketer : £45.00 for 11 to 12 years, or £48.00 for 2XS to 3XL; or

- A slip over jumper for their Young Cricketer : £37.00 for for 11 to 12 years, or £45.00 for 2XS to 3XL

these can be ordered at the Registration Evening too. These additional items will need to be paid for via the Junior Section using the Account and Sort Code set out above. If additional items are ordered then please state the following when making a payment, :-

Add-Items-[Name of Child/Children]
Example : Add-Items-NThompson

Unfortunately, these items of clothing CANNOT be ordered direct from Lorimers as single items. They can only be ordered as multiple purchases of a minimum of 10 shirts, or jumpers. This is the reason why the Junior Section is looking to place a bulk order. Fingers crossed, the ordered items should be delivered within about six weeks.

Given that the Junior Section’s financial year runs from 1st January to 31st December, please don’t make any financial payments to the Junior Section until on, or after 1st January, 2023.

Donation of Outgrown Cricket Equipment :

It would also be great if parents / carers could please bring to the Registration Evening any cricket equipment that their Young Cricketer may have outgrown, (such as boots, pads, gloves and bats), for the same to be donated to the Junior Section for use by others. Such equipment is especially useful for those who are starting to play hardball cricket.

Concluding Comments :

Should any children wish to play cricket at Hartlepool Cricket Club in 2023, then their parents / carers are encouraged to attend the Registration Evening, so that they become a member for the 2023 cricket season. If you are aware of any prospective players, then please share this article with them! When attending the Registration Evening adults may also be interested in becoming a member of Hartlepool Cricket Club too. Memberships can be taken-out over the bar!

Should you have any queries concerning the above, then please don’t hesitate to contact David, or Chris. The 2023 cricket season will be here in the blink of an eye!
