…on “Panama Hat Day”!

The annual remembrance of Ken Gardner MBE is taking place on Monday, 29th August, 2022. This is the date of the 1st XI’s final home league fixture for the 2022 cricket season. Billingham Synthonia Cricket Club are the visitors to Park Drive.

As has become the tradition, “Panama Hat Day” is taking place to remember Ken. For those who knew Ken, he would often be seen at Park Drive wearing his beloved Panama Hat.

Susanne Wilkinson, who has liaised with Ken’s family about “Panama Hat Day” over a number of years, said : “This day was set up to remember Ken and the Herculean work that he did for Hartlepool Cricket Club over many, many years. It’s great for Ken’s family that this tradition is being maintained by the Cricket Club. Hopefully, the weather will be good on the 29th August, which is the August Bank Holiday weekend!”.

Visitors and spectators to Park Drive on Monday, 29th August, 2022 are encouraged to wear a Panama hat as the Cricket Club remembers one of its all time greats.
