Wednesday, 18th June, 2025 saw Brad Frank’s 2nd XI win the Robinson Cup Final, which was staged at Park Drive. A great crowd was in attendance to see the 2nd XI overcome Stokesley Cricket Club to win by 3 wickets.
Stokesley batted first and scored 118 for 6 from their 20 overs. Ollie Mole and Brad Frank shared identical bowling figures with 1 for 13 off 4 overs. Messrs Curtis, Prosser Senior and Stewart each took one wicket. The other wicket to fall was to a cooly taken run out.
In reply, Ollie Mole steadied the ship coming into bat after a wicket fell on the first ball of our innings. Ollie went on to make a fine 35 from 32 balls. Messrs Callaghan, (30 from 22 balls), and Rhoden, (19 from 18 balls), helped Hartlepool reach the required total to win the game with 4.4 overs remaining. Had Stokely scored another 10 to 15 runs, it may have been a tight affair, with us being 113 for 4, 117 for 5 and then 117 for 6. However, Patrick Curtis hit the winning runs to take the 2nd XI to 122 for 7. A great performance before a good sized crowd at Park Drive.
Alan Jackson, Chair of Hartlepool Cricket Club said : “I’d like to congratulate Brad and the 2nd XI on their great win. Well done to all! I know the win will mean so much to the players just following the four year anniversary of Danny’s passing”.
David JB Thompson, Chair of Selectors, commented : “A great win in the Robinson Cup Final on the back of Saturday’s away league win against Middlesbrough. Had there been a Player of the Match, my vote would have gone to Ollie Mole, who bowled and batted extremely well. Let’s hope these back to back wins give the 2nd XI great confidence as they look to accumulate points and move up the league table in Division 2”.
