Well done to our two Under 9s Teams who competed in today’s Under 9s Softball Tournament at Murton Cricket Club. The Tournament followed a similar format to our recent Tournament.

Whilst neither the Stags, or the Silverbacks made it to the Semi-Finals of the Murton Parish Council Shield Competition, with them both having finished second in their respective Groups they did progress to the Semi-Finals of the Cup Competition. Both Teams won two of their three matches in the group stages.

Both Teams then won their Semi-Finals, meeting each other in the Final! Whilst the Silverbacks batted first, they were no match for the Stags, with the Stags dominating the Final to win the Cup Competition. The Final was played in the right spirit.

Some fantastic cricket was played by both of our Under 9s at Murton, with some great batting, bowling and fielding being on show. The Stags and Silverbacks continue to progress in the right direction, with their cricket skills being tested in competitive matches. They should be proud of themselves! Hopefully, they are learning from these experiences. Over the day the Stags played five and won four, while the Silverbacks played five and won three.

A big thank you to those supporters from Hartlepool Cricket Club who supported our Young Cricketers today. Also, thank you to our Coaches too. There may be some tweaking of the Teams in due course!

Finally, a big thank you to all those from Murton Cricket Club who were involved in organisation of today’s softball tournament. Fantastic to see over 100 children playing softball cricket and enjoying themselves in the process too! We had a great afternoon of cricket.

Next stop for the Stags and Silverbacks? Seaham Harbour Cricket Club on Sunday, 7th July, 2019 for a series of friendly softball matches. Teams have already been posted on TeamApp. It will hopefully be an excellent afternoon too!!
